Introduction

XEN is a super-popular Virtualization platform. We use XEN to run a lot of our infrastructure because it’s very easy to work with, and truly Open Source.

Now&XEN is a collection of scripts that provides command line management for XEN virtual machines. It will automatically install on Redhat machines, configuring your machine completely, so you’re ready to go with a single command. Then you can install templates, configure, run and manage your setup with the included tools - it makes using XEN a snap for even inexperienced sysadmins.

Completely Automatic

Now&XEN can be used to convert a dedicated server to a powerhouse XEN box.

Capabilities

  • Install everything you need to run XEN with one command, then automatically reboot and be ready to run Xen environments off a base Linux OS in just a minute or so.
  • Manage the configuration files for XEN environments, then automatically start, stop, and reboot them.

Benefits

  • Drastically reduce the time it takes to create XEN servers (especially good in a mass hosting environment)
  • Easily wrap the scripts to automate
  • Put your applications in XEN, and put your ASP or SaaS product on demand
  • Wrap Now&XEN with remote invocatino (such as a SOAP layer) and you have a management system
  • Use templates from around the web - works with any XEN environment
  • Built around the latest XENSource kernel, so you'll have the latest stable kernel with an easy conversion to commercial support

Requirements

  • Shell access
  • Redhat Enterprise Linux 4.x or CentOS 4.x
  • About 10 minutes

Bring out your patches...

Basically Now&XEN provides turn-key administration of XEN, making it absolutely simple to create, manage, and administer XEN VPS. Please, provide us your patches and feedback - we'd like to continue to work on these.
