Since the dawn of software, change has been the enemy. Change in software requires planning, time, causes instability, and generally drives budgets up.
AutoPilot is a deployment platform for Drupal, designed specifically to take the work out of day-to-day build management for the Drupal CMS. AutoPilot makes its possible to single-click deploy a Drupal site from a development server to QA, and from QA to your live environment, and much, much more.

So where can we get more
So where can we get more information about AutoPilot?
We are working on getting more
...stuff together, albeit more slowly than we'd like. (is that always the way)
System is a monster
The system is pretty big, and we're working on packing and releasing it while we continue to develop it.
This project is currently funded and in active development, and has quite a lot (actually, overwhelming amounts) of interest from companies and the community, so please know we're working to get it released as soon as we get through our private beta.
For right now, we're looking for super-senior members of the Drupal community who are interested in continuing to extend the functionality. We've managed to globalize the users, but we need to extend Drupal in some other ways to make it possible to handle build management for social websites without overwriting content, and this work is what's holding us up right now - the system is functional, but we want it to rock the free Drupal world.
It's going to take the whole village to accomplish the vision we have set out, so please, if you have interest in contributing or testing, please get in touch or leave us a comment here.
Testing and/or info
We aren't by any means super-senior Drupalers, but we've gone pretty far with subversion, test installs, and the like for our hosted Drupal sites and are actively trying to take a pretty good system to the next level... which looks to be autopilot!
Please let us know when/if we make the cut.
WOW. Looks sexy
A few weeks ago, I got in touch with Boris Mann, specifically about the topic of build management tools for our beloved Drupal. He told me, some guys were working on the problem, now I know that he was referring to you people.
This project has made me really curious. I would like to take a peep in source code(if you intend to open it up) and see how you guys are doing things there, just as a learning experience.
I am not any big Drupal hacker have been using Drupal for about 2 years, actually I got disconnected for about 10 months in between. I have absolutely zero contributions to Drupal community. Now I am picking up the screw driver and tightening the screws around my drupal skills again.
It will be great, if you could allow me to peek into the development of this wonderful project called AutoPilot
I will hope for a positive response from you guys.
And Thanks for sucha a great stuff
posted an update
I posted an update over on the blog:
http://www.workhabit.org/change-management-and-drupal-autopilot-news
We're going to try to get social build management finished in the next couple of weeks. We're working on insterting gids into different elements of the system to make it possible to merge a site's db structure back and fourth through the system - a little complex. ;-)
Cheers!
Jonathan
Testing
I am working on producing a fairly complicated set of installs. Since I have a lot of system administration experience I tend to focus on reproducibility and automation. Talking in #drupal someone suggested looking at this site. I would like to test in a private beta if you are offering.
Wow,
Hello, Jonathan,
I just saw the project release on d.o for Autopilot.
Wow.
I'm psyched to try this out. Nice work. Very nice work.
Great but where are the docs
I have been waiting for this for a long time. Great work.
But looks like no docs at all.
Can someone point me somewhere so that I can do a basic setup.
Thanks
Yeah, as far as I can tell no one
...has managed to get this working. It has paths that look they're made for a specific OS, and as Mr. Nazim says, there's no documentation for how to set this up. I realize it's alpha, but even an alpha is supposed to be installable right?
It's installable. ;-)
Hey Anonymous.
We have this working for a number of installations right now, and it does work.
We are planning a full write up for documentation, but in general, no, alphas do not include docs. It's the beta where the docs are produced. This is "code only".
That said, I know a number of people on staff who would be happy to help you out dude. ;-) Just post up your questions.
Full installation documentation is coming.
Jonathan
Is there an update? The dev
Is there an update? The dev version is way old, and there are none of the promised screencasts/updates/etc ...
Any news? The missed boston
Any news? The missed boston drupalcon presentation was a huge disapointment.
Having this module lag around is worse than not having one... no one is going to take on the job of creating a module for this dire needed functionality as long as the possiblity exists that all their work could be for nothing if autopilot ever gets released.
Please... just an update....
Any status update on this?
Any status update on this? Is there a stable build available?
